Do's

  • Keep the puncture site dry for 24–48 hours. Watch the site for any signs of infection such as redness, swelling, or inflammation at the puncture site.
  • Watch for bleeding at the puncture site. If there is some bleeding, lie down flat on your back and apply pressure. If the bleeding persists or is severe immediately call your doctor!
  • If you experience severe or persistent chest pain, you may be experiencing a heart attack. Call an ambulance immediately!
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Eat healthy foods.
  • Manage diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
  • Take medications as prescribed by your doctor.
  • If you are feeling depressed, speak with friends and family.

Dont's

  • Try and wait for at least a week before bathing.
  • Avoid sexual activity for at least a week.
  • Do not smoke, at least try to quit smoking.
  • Do not stress.
  • Do not lift heavy objects or carry out any vigorous physical activity immediately. Consult your doctor, he/she will let you know when it is safe to resume your routine activities.
